SSG Landers' second-tier coach Park Jung-kwon (43) unveiled the growth roadmap for young players.
"I stress to the players, 'Don't give up on yourself,'" coach Park Jung-kwon said on Sunday. "You can lose a game, but if you give up on yourself, you will fall into mannerism." Park's philosophy focuses on individual players' growth and passion.안전놀이터
Earlier, SSG appointed Park Jung-kwon, a former franchise star, as the head coach of the second division after the controversial incident with former coach Park Jung-tae. Park was a veteran infielder with a career batting average of 0.273, 178 home runs and 679 RBIs in the first division when he was with the SK Wyverns.
The key points Park emphasizes are "defense" and "voluntary training." "If the defense is unstable, there are limited chances to stay in the first team for a long time," he said. "Confidence comes from experience, and the amount of training is confidence for the Futures players."
In particular, he plans to use a "push-and-push" strategy instead of a coercive training method. Rather than dictating and threatening many training sessions, he intends to make players follow suit naturally.
His experience as a commentator also contributed to his coaching philosophy. "After a year of commentating, I can now look at baseball from a completely different perspective," he said.
"One win and two wins can be made by the Futures team," coach Park said, referring to his team's fall baseball failure last year. He expressed his ambition to prepare for the camp without a hitch so that the first team can play from early this year.
A club official said, "As a former franchise star, he has a different affection and philosophy for fostering players."
